Lagos State Upgrades Local Government Training School to Modern Centre of Excellence

Lagos State has taken a major step in strengthening capacity building at the grassroots with the renovation and upgrade of The Training School of the Local Government Establishments and Training. The facility was originally established to provide tailored, in-house training programmes for local government employees, aimed at enhancing efficiency, productivity, and a service-oriented workforce across all cadres.

The facility had faced significant challenges over time, including structural deterioration of ceilings, leaking roofs, broken windows, worn-out furniture, and poor lighting. Recognizing the need for modernization, the Lagos State Government, with oversight from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, embarked on a phased renovation to restore and enhance the school’s functionality.

The upgraded training school now boasts:

  • A 120-capacity main hall, ideal for large gatherings and training sessions

  • State-of-the-art audio-visual equipment for modern learning experiences

  • Dedicated office spaces for programme coordination and administrative tasks

  • A landscaped garden designed for relaxation and informal networking among participants

  • A kitchenette to support events and training sessions

The facility will host job-specific training programmes, seminars, meetings, promotion exercises, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives, making it a hub for professional development across Lagos State’s local government workforce.

With these improvements, the Training School has been transformed into a modern centre of excellence, reflecting Lagos State’s commitment to developing skilled, efficient, and service-oriented local government personnel at the grassroots level.
