Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the nation’s security chiefs following the arrest of top leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group.
Adeleke described the breakthrough as “a major advancement in the fight against terrorism,” noting that it has boosted security not only at the federal level but also across states, including Osun.
The governor highlighted that Osun itself had been a beneficiary of recent federal security reforms, with several terrorist sleeper cells dismantled in the state through the joint efforts of intelligence and security services. He recalled visiting the Department of State Services (DSS) in Osun, where he personally witnessed the agency’s covert work to neutralize threats.
According to him, the success was made possible by coordinated reforms across the military formations, the DSS, the National Intelligence Agency, the Police, Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary institutions under the national security architecture.
“Osun is a direct beneficiary of these reforms. I commend the intelligence community for dismantling terrorist cells across our state. We salute the President, the NSA, and the entire security leadership for the arrest of Ansaru leaders and other recent gains in counter-terrorism,” the governor said.
He stressed that the proactive strategy deployed under the current administration has enhanced Nigeria’s territorial integrity and given citizens renewed confidence in the nation’s fight against violent extremism.
The arrest of the Ansaru leaders marks one of the most significant counter-terrorism operations in recent years, raising hopes for sustained security stability across the country.
