Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has ordered an immediate reinforcement of security at the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Jalingo following student complaints over rising safety concerns on campus. The directive was issued during the Governor’s inspection of ongoing renovation and construction projects at the institution on Wednesday.
Speaking to students during the visit, Governor Kefas assured them of his administration’s commitment to their safety and academic welfare, stressing that no student should feel unsafe while pursuing their education. “I have instructed the security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure the campus is fully secured. Your safety is very important to us,” he said.
The Governor also confirmed that the ongoing construction projects would soon be completed, allowing students to return to hostels and study in a more conducive environment. He reiterated his administration’s vision to elevate healthcare training institutions in Taraba State to international standards, highlighting the College of Nursing and Midwifery’s crucial role in producing skilled healthcare professionals.
Students welcomed the Governor’s hands-on approach, expressing relief and gratitude for his prompt response to their concerns. The visit forms part of the broader efforts by the Kefas administration to strengthen education, enhance infrastructure, and ensure security across all state-run institutions.
Fear Analysis:
The swift intervention is expected to ease anxiety among students and staff, but persistent security challenges in the region could pose ongoing risks. Effective coordination between the Governor’s office and security agencies will be crucial to prevent incidents and maintain a safe learning environment. Delays in project completion or lapses in security could undermine public confidence if not carefully managed.
