The First Lady of Imo State, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, has praised the resilience and dedication of women in driving community development, describing them as the true backbone of families and society.
Speaking during the grand finale of the 4th August Meeting of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) at St. Rose of Lima Parish, Ozuh Omuma, Oru-East LGA, the First Lady—represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Nkechinyere Ugwu—urged women to continue upholding exemplary values in their homes and communities. She also reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women-focused initiatives across the state.
The gathering, which brought together women from the parish and beyond, celebrated unity, shared commitment, and the collective role of women in community growth.
In her remarks, the leader of the CWO, Hon. Mrs. Amandianeze, commended Governor Hope Uzodimma and his wife for their consistent contributions to the parish and wider community. She described them as “pillars of support and beacons of hope,” highlighting the Governor’s philanthropic gestures, including the construction of nursery, primary, and secondary schools for the parish, youth empowerment programs, and the donation of a bus to the church. She also noted that parishioners benefit from food distribution after church services, courtesy of the Governor.
As part of the celebration, the Catholic Women Organization conferred honorary titles on the state’s First Family, bestowing the title of “IDE JI ULO” on Governor Uzodimma and “UGO OMA SI MBA” on the First Lady in recognition of their support for the church and community development.
The August Meeting, a long-standing cultural and religious tradition, once again highlighted the role of women as a force for good in society and underscored the collaborative relationship between the government and grassroots women organizations in Imo State.
