Political leaders from the Jechira bloc, representing major parties including the APC, PDP, and Labour Party, paid a solidarity visit to Senator Dr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and APC Leader in Benue State, at his Maitama residence in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Elder Abaki Julius Korapera, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongo, and Prof. Dennis Ityavyar commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Sen. Akume as SGF, describing the appointment as well-deserved. They pledged continued allegiance to his leadership and committed to ensuring President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The delegation also recognized Sen. Akume’s role in producing a Jechira son as Governor of Benue State and urged him to maintain the governorship within Jechira in future terms, noting that other zones have already completed two full terms each. They expressed appreciation to their “twin brothers” in Jemgbah for their unwavering support.

Sen. Dr. Jack Tilley-Gyado, who led the delegation, lauded President Tinubu for including Sen. Akume and other Benue natives in strategic government positions and for advancing infrastructure development across the state. He pledged support for any political initiatives championed by Sen. Akume leading up to the 2027 elections.

Responding, Sen. Akume thanked the delegation for their solidarity and reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful leadership for the people, urging continued backing for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu. Selected members of the group also held a closed-door meeting with the SGF.

The event featured a cultural moment as Sen. Akume donned Tiv traditional attire and was attended by Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, and Hon. Chris Tarka, Chief of Staff to the SGF, along with prominent Jechira leaders both locally and abroad.
