The Enugu North August Meeting provided a vibrant celebration of women’s influence in shaping families and communities. Representatives from my office joined the women of Enugu North Local Government Area (LGA) for a day filled with inspiration, discussions, and lively activities.
The event began with a coordinated march past, showcasing the unity and style of the women. In her welcome address, Mrs. Chizoba Akuabata Onoh, Chairperson of Enugu North LGA, described women as custodians of the future and builders of homes and communities. She emphasized the theme, “Women as Nation Builders,” highlighting the link between women’s empowerment and the progress of families, communities, and the nation.
Hon. Justice Oji Ngozika further enriched the program with an address on women as custodians of culture and law, urging participants to embrace their roles as peacebuilders in society.
The celebrations featured fun and engaging activities, including a novelty football match and an exciting egg race, with prizes awarded to participants. Comr. Egodi Igwe, Managing Director of the Custos Care Foundation, led an enlightening session on gender-based violence, emphasizing that silenced or abused women cannot fully contribute to family and societal development. The session included a question-and-answer segment, leaving attendees better informed and empowered, with several rewarded for participation.
Adding a cultural touch, the Ada Ngwo Cultural Dance Troupe performed a vibrant dance, infusing the event with color and pride.
In his address, Hon. Ibenaku Onoh, Executive Chairman of Enugu North LGA, praised the women and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting women and children across the local government. Represented by the SSA on Special Duties, Barr. Mrs. Chidimma Egeonu, my office highlighted the unity, collaboration, and progress evident in Enugu North, noting thriving markets, peaceful homes, and strong community bonds.
