Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Governor of Benue State, has commemorated two years in office with a presentation of his administration’s achievements, highlighting substantial progress across security, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, and digital transformation.
Since assuming office, Governor Alia has focused on tackling the state’s pressing challenges, including insecurity, the return of displaced persons, rural development, industrialization, and human capital development. His governance approach emphasizes participatory, transparent, accountable, and inclusive decision-making, aligned with the rule of law.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, Governor Alia and his media team, led by Chief Press Secretary Sir Tersoo Kula, unveiled a comprehensive scorecard detailing the administration’s impact. Veteran journalist and presidential spokesman Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who led a federal media team to Benue State, confirmed firsthand the tangible progress on the ground.
The scorecard highlights extensive road construction and rehabilitation, strides in agriculture and healthcare, advancements in education and ICT, initiatives in industrialization, humanitarian projects, and improved land administration. These projects, officials say, are concrete efforts directly improving the lives of residents, rather than abstract promises.
Governor Alia emphasized his administration’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and development partners to unlock resources and accelerate development in the state. Mr. Onanuga commended the administration, noting that the visit was not political but a fact-finding mission to validate the substantial achievements of Governor Alia’s tenure. He affirmed that the federal team’s findings serve as a strong rebuttal to critics who have sought to undermine the government with misinformation.
