Nigeria has restated its commitment to deepening trade integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, joined global leaders at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algiers.
The fair, recognised as a leading platform for unlocking new economic opportunities across Africa, attracted policymakers, business executives, and development partners.
On the sidelines, Edun met with Professor Benedict Oramah, President and Chairman of Afreximbank, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who chairs IATF 2025. Their discussions revolved around strengthening Nigeria’s role in intra-African trade, boosting industrial growth, and attracting investments to drive sustainable development.
The second day of the event featured sessions such as the Trade Forum, Arise Industrialization Day, Global Africa Day, and the CANE Auto Forum—highlighting Africa’s growing influence in global supply chains and the drive for increased trade among African nations.
Speaking after his engagements, the Finance Minister noted that the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda is creating an enabling environment for business and trade. He added that Nigeria is positioning itself as a hub for value-added production and a key player in shaping the continent’s economic future.
