Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, has shared his perspective on the recent primetime interview of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, describing the outing as sharp in delivery but riddled with contradictions.
In a detailed commentary originally authored by Legendary Joe and shared by Dare, the piece applauded the anchor, Charles Aniagolu, for his professionalism and composure, noting that the interview stood out for its grace and tact rather than the usual heated theatrics.
The analysis, however, took issue with El-Rufai’s shifting political positions, pointing out that while he now describes the Tinubu administration as “evil” for not replicating Lagos-style governance in Abuja, he once vowed to retire former President Muhammadu Buhari from politics before later branding himself a staunch “Buharist.”
The commentary further questioned El-Rufai’s credibility in dismissing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet as a “disaster,” reminding Nigerians that El-Rufai himself served in a federal cabinet marred by long ASUU strikes, infrastructure delays, and unfulfilled promises to victims of national crises.
It also criticized El-Rufai’s assertion that President Tinubu has no pathway to a second term, stressing that political outcomes remain uncertain and that it is premature to declare 2027 election results in advance.
The piece concluded that while criticism of leadership is valid in democracy, personal grievances should not be disguised as patriotic commentary, adding that Nigerians are now more discerning and able to separate genuine critique from political vendettas.
