As part of the ongoing Assisted Voluntary Return initiative supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Lagos Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), together with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), successfully received 148 Nigerian returnees from Chad on September 9th, 2025. The returnees arrived safely at the Cargo Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, aboard an ASKY Airlines flight (Registration Number ET-BAT) at approximately 12:25 hours.

The group included 93 adults, 49 children, and 6 infants. Upon arrival, officials from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) conducted biometric registration and proper documentation to ensure accurate records and facilitate smooth reintegration into the country.

In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to safe and dignified returns, the returnees were provided with immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, potable water, medical care, luggage handling, and general coordination to ensure a seamless reception. The collaborative efforts of NEMA, IOM, NCFRMI, and other stakeholders ensured an efficient process centered on the dignity and welfare of all returnees.
