
In a bid to enhance staff welfare and support the growth of one of Nigeria’s premier institutions, the Kaduna State Government has officially presented land allocation papers for staff housing in Sabon Gari and Chikun Local Government Areas to the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and his management team. The presentation took place at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House and underscores the state government’s commitment to boosting staff morale and providing the necessary infrastructure to support ABU in fulfilling its extensive responsibilities.
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor and his team expressed gratitude for the support of the Kaduna State Government. They commended the administration’s strides in education, agriculture, transportation, and inclusive governance, noting that Kaduna’s participatory governance model has become a case study in ABU faculties as an example of democratic practice in Nigeria.
The university officials also lauded the state government’s efforts in tackling insecurity, creating a safe and conducive environment for residents, and pledged ABU’s readiness to collaborate with the government in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kaduna State.
Governor Senator Uba Sani, CON, reiterated that education remains the cornerstone of the state’s transformation agenda. He highlighted that education’s share of the 2025 budget has been increased to 26.14%, alongside the construction of 62 new schools, the renovation of over 1,700 classrooms, and a 50% reduction in tuition fees for state-owned tertiary institutions. In addition, the governor noted the commissioning of three of the largest and well-equipped vocational and skills development institutes in Nigeria.
Governor Sani emphasized Kaduna State’s readiness to work with ABU in expanding technical skills training and reaffirmed the government’s continued support for the university as a centre of excellence and a national treasure.
