The Executive Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor, has officially launched a Community Health Outreach Programme at the local council headquarters in Nzam, with the aim of providing free medical services to residents across communities in the council area.

The initiative, unveiled on September 9, represents a bold step in the Chairman’s ongoing commitment to improving grassroots healthcare delivery in Anambra West. In his remarks at the event, Hon. Nnazor praised the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his unwavering dedication to strengthening healthcare services at the local government level. He described the outreach as a timely and proactive response to the rising cases of sudden health complications and preventable deaths that have become increasingly common in rural communities.

Through the programme, residents will benefit from free medical consultations, malaria testing, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, urinalysis and the distribution of essential drugs. The Chairman reassured the people that the local government would continue to complement the state government’s efforts by ensuring that healthcare remains accessible and affordable to rural dwellers.

Hon. Nnazor also called on councillors, community leaders, women leaders and youth leaders to mobilize their people to take advantage of the medical outreach, stressing that good health is the foundation for building a productive and prosperous society.

The flag-off ceremony drew a large crowd of residents, traditional rulers, healthcare professionals and political stakeholders, many of whom expressed their appreciation to Governor Soludo and the council leadership for taking such a decisive step to bring healthcare closer to the people.

The outreach, which is structured to hold in phases, will continue at primary health centres across the local government area in the days ahead, ensuring that more communities benefit from the initiative.
