In a move to strengthen security operations in Ukum Local Government Area, Senator Emmanuel Udende, representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, has donated brand new Bajaj motorcycles to Nigerian Army personnel stationed in Afia.
The Senator said the intervention became necessary after he was informed that the troops lacked adequate mobility to access remote communities and respond swiftly to threats. According to him, the motorcycles will significantly enhance their operational efficiency and improve safety in the area.
It would be recalled that Senator Udende had earlier supported security agencies by donating a Hilux van to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Gbeji, reinforcing his commitment to complement government efforts in tackling insecurity.
Beyond security, the lawmaker highlighted ongoing constituency projects in Ucha community, including the extension of electricity from Zaki-Biam, Gbagir Afia to Gbeji markets, the construction of a bridge across River Afia, and the renovation of classroom blocks at Ucha Community School.
During his visit, Senator Udende, who chairs the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, also engaged traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, and women groups. He assured them of his continuous support in driving development and fostering peace across the senatorial district.
