The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has assured residents that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration is fully committed to transforming Edo into a hub for investment and economic growth, despite concerns about insecurity.
In a statement issued in Benin City, the Commissioner reaffirmed that the state government is taking deliberate steps to improve the business climate and restore investor confidence. His remarks were in response to an appeal made by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, during an Emergency Congress, urging the government to create a more enabling environment for private sector growth.
According to Ohonbamu, the government is working tirelessly to tackle security challenges and provide a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive. He stressed that the administration’s efforts are already yielding positive results, and expressed optimism that Edo would soon emerge as a major investment destination. He explained that Governor Okpebholo’s government has intensified work on infrastructure, particularly roads and transportation networks, while also simplifying regulations to make it easier for businesses to operate.
The Commissioner further noted that the administration is vigorously promoting investment opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism, while at the same time strengthening security through the provision of modern equipment, better training for security personnel, and closer engagement with local communities. He highlighted the recent establishment of a special security intervention team under the direct leadership of the Governor as part of ongoing measures to combat threats.
Ohonbamu urged the people of Edo State to remain patient and supportive as the government pushes ahead with its development agenda. While inviting both local and foreign investors to explore opportunities in the state, he emphasized that Governor Okpebholo’s administration remains resolute in its vision of making Edo an attractive and prosperous destination for investment.
“We believe in the potential of our state and its people, and we’re working hard to realize that potential,” he said.
