The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, has led a high-powered Nigerian delegation to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) scheduled to run from September 16 to 18, 2025, in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China.
The Inspector-General’s participation follows an official invitation from the Chinese Government to join global security leaders, ministers, and policing experts for deliberations on collective strategies to combat transnational crime, foster cooperation, and strengthen public safety worldwide.
As part of the programme, Dr. Egbetokun will deliver a keynote address on September 18, focusing on the theme “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.” His remarks will highlight Nigeria’s ongoing policing reforms, intelligence-driven crime-fighting strategies, and collaborative work with international partners to dismantle cross-border criminal networks and protect communities.
Ahead of the forum, the IGP is scheduled to meet with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Qi Yanjun, on September 15. The bilateral discussions are expected to cover enhanced intelligence sharing, capacity building, and broader law enforcement collaboration between both nations.
The Inspector-General’s attendance at the GPSCF underscores Nigeria’s renewed commitment to global security partnerships and proactive policing strategies, reaffirming the country’s role as a responsible partner in shaping the future of public safety.
