
The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi Esq., has stressed the importance of unity and strategic collaboration among stakeholders in driving inclusive and sustainable development across the state, particularly through initiatives that empower women and support vulnerable groups.
Chief Idaomi made the call in her office in Benin City while hosting leaders of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, who paid her a courtesy visit to commend her dedication to improving the welfare of the disadvantaged.
She emphasized that government programmes aimed at uplifting women and other vulnerable populations can only achieve maximum impact when stakeholders work together in synergy, noting that meaningful social transformation requires collective commitment.
The Commissioner also acknowledged the consistent support of the Akoko-Edo leadership for the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, describing their cooperation and alignment with his development agenda as instrumental in achieving progress across the state.
According to her, “sustainable development can only be accelerated when all parties unite behind a common purpose, ensuring government initiatives reach every community, especially at the grassroots level.”
She further outlined ongoing plans by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to expand programmes that promote the empowerment of women, children, and other vulnerable groups, reaffirming government’s commitment to deepening partnerships in these areas.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Tope Jacob, applauded Governor Okpebholo’s administration for its people-focused governance. He described the government as inclusive, transparent, and responsive to the needs of citizens, while pledging the continued loyalty and support of the people of Akoko-Edo to the state government.
With the call for unity, stakeholders in Edo State are expected to strengthen their resolve in promoting gender equality, social welfare, and inclusive growth, ensuring that no section of society is left behind in the state’s development drive.
