The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its stance on accountability within the civil service, warning that any officer found to have falsified records or abandoned their duty post will not be retained in service. Officials also stressed that funds illegally collected by such individuals will be recovered.

Speaking during a press briefing in Asaba on Monday, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed that the ongoing civil service screening exercise is part of the administration’s broader reforms aimed at ensuring professionalism, discipline, and efficiency in the system.

Aniagwu further highlighted the administration’s recent investment drive in Brazil, explaining that the visit was designed to attract global partners in key sectors such as agriculture, ranching, renewable energy, and industrial development. According to him, the ultimate goal is to expand opportunities for job creation, strengthen security, and enhance the standard of living for the people of Delta State.

He clarified that the reinforcement of the civil service dress code was not a new directive but rather a reminder of existing rules that promote decency and professionalism. Aniagwu emphasized that the civil service is a regimented institution, and its officers must embody discipline in both conduct and appearance.

Responding to claims of disputes among government commissioners, Aniagwu dismissed such reports as politically motivated distractions, stressing that no commissioner is engaged in any conflict. He described the rumors as deliberate fabrications by detractors who cannot fault the administration’s progress.

The Commissioner concluded by reiterating that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration remains people-focused and result-oriented, with a strong determination to resist misinformation. He assured that the government’s priority is to continue implementing projects and policies that directly improve the lives of Deltans.
