Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, officially declared open the 2nd International Railway Conference, assuring a new era of railway development and modernization under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his opening remarks, Shettima emphasized that reviving and revitalizing Nigeria’s railway services is critical for maintaining the country’s lead as Africa’s logistics hub. He noted that the railway sector presents vast opportunities, but harnessing them requires strategic planning and coordinated efforts.

Shettima called for strong networking, partnerships, and collaboration among stakeholders, stressing that advancing the nation’s railway infrastructure is a task that cannot be undertaken lightly. He highlighted that modernization efforts will drive efficiency, economic growth, and regional connectivity, strengthening Nigeria’s position as a continental transport leader.

The conference, which brings together government officials, industry experts, and private sector players, aims to chart a roadmap for sustainable railway development and explore innovative solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria’s transport network.
