The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has engaged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in preparation for a pilot project to operationalize the National Mass Fatality Response Plan in Damaturu.

Scheduled to take place from 12th to 26th September 2025, the initiative will include training sessions, stakeholder coordination meetings, sensitization engagements, and a full simulation exercise of armed conflict designed to test response readiness.

SEMA will lead the simulation exercise, aiming to enhance coordination, disaster preparedness, and response systems in Yobe State, across Nigeria, and beyond. The project is implemented in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and ICRC, representing a significant step toward strengthening resilience and safeguarding human dignity during crises.
