The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged stakeholders and members of the Aba business community to actively support ongoing efforts to ensure a safe, peaceful, and secure environment in both Aba and the state at large.

Speaking at the opening of a security workshop and training for Container Unloaders Unions in Aba, themed “Partnership between Government and Frontline Unloaders, Threat, Communication and Information Management,” Governor Otti, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, described the initiative as critical to the growth and sustainability of the Aba business hub.

He explained that his administration remains committed to transforming Aba into a thriving commercial center, a vision that is already visible through the massive infrastructural development projects underway across the state. Otti encouraged participants to take the training seriously so that the benefits of the workshop would be fully realized, while assuring that government has even greater projects in the pipeline to build a more prosperous and secure society.

The workshop drew positive reactions from members of the business community. The President of the Association of International Traders, Prince Edmund Igwe, described the exercise as one of the benefits of their engagement with the governor, applauding him for his infrastructural revolution in Aba which has relieved businesses of years of suffering. He noted that the Otti administration has ended decades of hardship that had driven investors away due to insecurity and decaying infrastructure, and he expressed gratitude for the government’s decision to prioritize security.

Other participants also commended the governor for initiating the program, stressing that the workshop would go a long way in strengthening security and boosting confidence in Aba as a commercial hub. Their optimism reflects growing support for the government’s efforts to create a safer environment for trade and investment.

The security workshop signals the administration’s recognition of the vital role frontline workers play in safeguarding the economy and underlines the importance of strong partnerships between government and business actors. Analysts believe that if these initiatives are sustained, Aba could reclaim its place as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant commercial cities.
