FORMER PRESIDENT JONATHAN HOSTS 4TH GEJ DEMOCRACY DIALOGUE, STRESSES PROTECTION OF DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA

The Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, hosted the 4th edition of the GEJ Democracy Dialogue under the theme: “Why Democracies Die.”

The event brought together distinguished leaders and participants to reflect on the importance of democracy in nation-building and the challenges confronting democratic governance across Africa. Discussions centered on lessons and pathways for fostering peaceful, just, and sustainable democratic systems.

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan expressed gratitude to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Government of Ghana, and key contributors including H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, and H.E. Kadre Désiré Ouédraogo. He also acknowledged all participants whose contributions enriched the dialogue.

Jonathan emphasized the collective responsibility to safeguard democracy as the “surest path to peace, security, and prosperity across Africa.”
