
The Bauchi State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting religious activities as a key tool for promoting peace, moral values, and social stability across the state.
The declaration was made by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Annual Qur’anic Quiz Competition organized by Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) at its headquarters in Jos, held at the Juma’at Mosque in Kasuwar Shanu, Bauchi. Represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki, the Deputy Governor emphasized that the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed recognizes the vital role of religion in guiding public conduct and nation-building.
“Our government will continue to collaborate with religious institutions to champion values that strengthen unity, discourage social vices, and foster mutual understanding among citizens,” he said. “Religious teachings, when properly instilled in our young people, serve as a powerful antidote to crime, drug abuse, and other social ills. That is why our administration will not relent in supporting credible religious platforms like JIBWIS.”
The Deputy Governor commended JIBWIS for sustaining Islamic teachings and providing a platform for nurturing the younger generation through Qur’anic learning and moral reorientation. He further assured that the government will continue to support both Islamic and Christian organizations in promoting peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony in Bauchi State.
In his remarks, the National Coordinator of JIBWIS Headquarters, Hafiz Aminu Yusuf Nuhu, said the Qur’anic competition is designed to produce a generation grounded in Islamic knowledge and moral discipline. He explained that the event fosters unity among Muslim youth and encourages them to be ambassadors of their faith in a rapidly changing society, while providing a platform for spiritual excellence, mentorship, and personal development.
The Executive Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area, Hon. Yunusa Bardan Jama’are, lauded the organizers for their dedication to faith-based enlightenment and youth empowerment. He encouraged parents and guardians to support their children’s participation in religious programs, stressing that a morally upright child is the foundation for a prosperous society.
The event drew participants from various Qur’anic schools, scholars, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders, all praising JIBWIS and the state government for prioritizing spiritual and moral development. HRH The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Raliwanu Suleiman Adamu CFR, was represented by the Marafan Bauchi, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Turba. The overall winner of the competition was Goni Nasir Dahiru Atahuwa from Itas/Gadau Local Government.
