The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, represented by Dr. Ayo Bakare, has restated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening data sovereignty and advancing digital transformation.
Inuwa made the remarks at the Africa Data Sovereignty Conference 2025, themed “Empowering Enterprises with Secure, In-Country Infrastructure.” Delivering a keynote address, he described data as the new oil of the 21st century—fueling innovation, driving economic growth, and shaping national sovereignty.
He stressed that true data sovereignty goes beyond control to encompass trust, resilience, economic empowerment, and digital independence.
During a panel session at the conference, the NITDA chief reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to driving Nigeria’s digital future through three core pillars: policy leadership, infrastructure enablement, and capacity development.
