The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, convened a high-level Strategic Conference with senior officers of the ranks of AIGs and CPs at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The conference provided a platform for performance review, strategic planning, and operational recalibration as the Nigeria Police Force enters the final quarter of the year.
IGP Egbetokun commended the visible improvement in Command posture, tactical responses, and supervisory presence across the country since the last conference in July, stressing that these gains have boosted public confidence and delivered tangible operational successes. He reminded senior officers that Nigeria is facing complex, hybrid security threats and urged them to strengthen intelligence-driven policing, seamless inter-command coordination, and visible leadership to stay ahead of criminal elements.
Presenting a two-month scorecard of police operations, the IGP disclosed that between 31st July and 23rd September 2025, the Force arrested 4,383 suspects nationwide for various serious crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, unlawful possession of firearms, rape, cultism, and other offences. In the same period, police operations led to the recovery of 716 assorted firearms, over 21,000 rounds of ammunition, and 212 vehicles, while 1,138 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.
Looking ahead, the IGP directed Zonal AIGs and State Commissioners of Police to heighten multi-layered visibility policing frameworks, strengthen community engagement, and intensify proactive patrols across highways, feeder routes, and forest corridors. He particularly charged officers to remain vigilant during the “Ember Months,” a period often associated with increased criminal activities.
The conference ended with senior police officers renewing their commitment to sustain operational momentum through October to December 2025 and beyond, with a focus on crime prevention, law enforcement efficiency, and stronger community partnerships across the country.
