Lagos, Nigeria — A domestic dispute involving one Mr. Ogbuafor Odinaka has escalated into a case now under police investigation, after he was allegedly attacked by hoodlums linked to his wife’s family.

The matter first came to light on 21st September 2025, when Mr. Odinaka reported to the Lagos Civil Society Organisation (EKOCSO) that his wife, identified as Mrs. Chizoba Anigbou, suddenly brought home a one-year, two-month-old baby without his consent. According to his account, when he sought clarification, Mrs. Anigbou claimed the child belonged to a friend who had recently traveled abroad. The friend, she said, was granted a visa while her baby was denied, and thus entrusted the infant to her care.

Suspicious of the explanation, Mr. Odinaka requested further dialogue through EKOCSO. However, repeated invitations to Mrs. Anigbou to present her side of the story were declined.

The situation escalated late on Monday night, when Mr. Odinaka allegedly suffered a brutal attack. He reported that Mrs. Anigbou called her brother, identified as Chukwudi, who arrived with a group of hoodlums. The assailants reportedly stabbed him in the hand, knee, and elbow, while also beating him with sticks, leaving him with severe injuries.

Leftist Napoleon Kelvin, the coordinator of EKOCSO, immediately contacted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ayobo Division, Wilson Alaba. Though it was late at night, arrangements were made for Mr. Odinaka to lodge a formal report at the station, accompanied by human rights comrades. His condition later worsened due to internal and external bleeding, and he was rushed to hospital.

By Tuesday morning, Leftist Kelvin secured medical clearance for Mr. Odinaka to petition the case officially at the Ayobo Divisional Police Headquarters, where the matter is currently being handled by the Investigating Police Officer, ASP Jumoke Ilori. Meanwhile, Mrs. Anigbou has reportedly fled their home upon learning that the case had been escalated to EKOCSO and the police.

Authorities have confirmed that they are now awaiting her return for questioning. The investigation remains ongoing.
