NDE, NELFUND Explore Partnership to Boost Education Access and Skills Development

The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), H.E. Silas Ali Agara, has received representatives of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in a strategic meeting focused on potential collaboration to expand access to education and strengthen skills development.

The NELFUND team, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, reiterated the Fund’s mission to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints. Sawyerr emphasized the vital role of education in creating value and empowering individuals, noting that NELFUND is committed to bridging financial gaps for students while partnering with relevant agencies to enhance employability.

In his response, the NDE DG commended NELFUND’s initiative and outlined the Directorate’s mandate in training and job creation. He highlighted that NDE operates training centres nationwide and has existing collaborations with universities to equip graduates with technical and vocational skills.

Both parties discussed potential areas of partnership, including student training programmes and joint skills development initiatives. The NDE DG expressed readiness to work closely with NELFUND to expand opportunities for Nigerian students and ensure they are not only educated but also empowered with employable skills.
