
The Bayelsa State Government has reiterated its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Bayelsa State Chapter, to enhance efficiency and professionalism within the civil service.
The pledge was made by the State Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, during a courtesy visit by the Association, led by Chairman Comrade Laye Julius, to his office in Yenagoa. Dr. Sawyer expressed gratitude for the recognition and assured the union of government’s readiness to work closely with civil servants on reforms, productivity, and accountability initiatives.
Highlighting Governor Douye Diri’s focus on workers’ welfare, Dr. Sawyer cited recent reforms in promotion exercises, digitization of records, and ongoing plans to provide affordable housing for civil servants. He further confirmed that consultations for the provision of housing for civil servants have already commenced.
Comrade Laye Julius commended Governor Diri for appointing Dr. Sawyer, describing him as a capable professional poised to drive meaningful reforms. He emphasized the need for regular training and retraining of civil servants and announced the 250-seater Secretariat building at Bayelsa Palm Road, urging collaboration with TUC and NLC to utilize it for training purposes. He also called for government support to complete the Civil Service Housing Estate.
The event concluded with a formal presentation of a recognition award to Dr. Sawyer by the Association’s leadership.
