Delta State Leaders Mourn Death of Industrialist Oskar Ibru

Prominent politicians have mourned the passing of renowned Delta State industrialist, Olorogun Oskar Eyovbirere Ibru, describing his death as a significant loss to both Delta State and Nigeria.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, called Ibru’s death “painful,” highlighting his contributions to commerce and philanthropy. “Oskar Ibru was a pillar of Delta’s economic and social life. His contributions to commerce and philanthropy will be remembered for generations. We have lost a rare gem,” the governor said.

Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, expressed deep grief, describing Ibru as a visionary and a valued son of the Urhobo nation. “Oskar Ibru was not just a businessman, he was a visionary who inspired many of us in politics and public service. The Urhobo nation has lost a great valued son whose legacy will stand the test of time,” he stated.

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central, also paid tribute, noting that the Urhobo nation had lost one of its strongest pillars. “Oskar Ibru was a beacon of hope and development. His legacy of enterprise and community service will remain indelible,” he added.

Olorogun Oskar Eyovbirere Ibru, the first son of late business mogul Olorogun Michael Ibru and head of the Ibru Organization, passed away on 24 September 2025 at the age of 67, leaving behind a lasting legacy of enterprise, philanthropy, and leadership.
