
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, in connection with the gruesome killing of his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto (75) and Hadiza Tasidi (65), following a domestic dispute in Kofar Dawanau Quarters.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the incident was reported at Dala Divisional Police Headquarters at about 9:30 a.m. Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly stabbed his grandparents multiple times with a knife during a quarrel over food.
The victims were rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. Their remains were later released to their family members for burial in line with Islamic rites.
Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the suspect, who is believed to have been under the influence of intoxicants, has been taken into custody. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section for discreet investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
