Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has secured the commitment of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to rehabilitate several critical federal roads across the state. The development followed a courtesy visit by the governor and members of the National Assembly from Taraba to the FERMA headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, where they met with the agency’s Director, Engr. Chukwu Emeka Agbasi.
During the meeting, Governor Kefas highlighted the urgent need for intervention, stressing that the deplorable condition of federal roads in the state has continued to hinder economic activities and safe travel. Responding to the appeal, Engr. Agbasi approved the rehabilitation of key routes, including the Jalingo–Mayobelwa–Yola Road, the Mutum Biu–Wukari Road, the Mararraba–Takum Road, and the Jalingo–Bali Road.
According to FERMA, work on the roads will commence immediately after the rainy season, ensuring that the projects are carried out under favorable conditions. The intervention is expected to ease movement within Taraba and to neighboring states, while also boosting trade, agriculture, and general socio-economic development in the region.
The approval marks a significant milestone in the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, reflecting the governor’s determination to deliver practical solutions that address the everyday challenges faced by citizens.
