Niger Foods Partners with Federal Government to Boost National Food Security

Niger Foods has forged a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, signaling a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector and achieving food self-sufficiency. The initiative aligns closely with the agricultural vision of Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, whose administration has prioritized large-scale food production, mechanization, and agro-industrial growth as a catalyst for national prosperity.

During a high-level meeting in Abuja, the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Hon. Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi, the Chairman of Niger Foods, Mr. Sammy Adigun, and senior officials including the Permanent Secretary reaffirmed their commitment to advancing domestic food production, with particular focus on achieving sugar sovereignty.

Governor Bago’s agricultural policies in Niger State, including investments in irrigation, mechanized farming, and value-chain development, are already transforming the sector and providing a strong foundation for national food security. The partnership with Niger Foods and the Federal Government is expected to further enhance these efforts, creating opportunities for job growth, rural development, and economic transformation across Nigeria.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the shared vision of making Niger State a key driver in feeding the nation, demonstrating how coordinated efforts between private enterprise, state leadership, and federal policy can secure the country’s agricultural future.
