Osun State leveraged the High-Level Summit on Economic, Trade, Empowerment, Investment, and Cultural Exchange, held during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), to showcase its potential as a hub for strategic investment and international partnerships.
Leading the delegation, the First Lady of Osun State, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, presented the state’s commitment to women’s and children’s empowerment, highlighting initiatives in education, health, and agriculture designed to generate sustainable growth. She stressed that strategic investments can amplify empowerment efforts, dismantle gender barriers, and unlock Nigeria’s economic potential while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Chief Mrs. Adeleke called for collaboration with international investors, development partners, and cultural institutions to accelerate inclusive economic growth. “By combining empowerment programs with targeted investments, Osun can provide a platform for economic prosperity while promoting gender equality and social inclusion,” she stated.
The delegation included key state officials, such as Mrs. Adenike Igbalaye, Wife of the Secretary to the State Government; Dr. Mojisola Aina, Wife of the Head of Service; and Ms. Lola Adewale, State Gender Focal Director. Their presence reinforced Osun’s unified approach to policy, empowerment, and investment.
Osun also showcased its rich cultural heritage as a catalyst for investment and trade. Home to the UNESCO-listed Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove and globally recognized as the cradle of Yoruba civilization, the state highlighted opportunities in tourism, creative industries, and cultural diplomacy, presenting these sectors as engines for economic growth and international collaboration.
The summit, organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation and Newday International Publishers in collaboration with the Osun State Government and the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF), provided a platform to forge cross-sector partnerships and attract foreign investment. Osun’s participation underlined its strategic vision to integrate empowerment, culture, and investment into a sustainable development model.
