Awka – Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, have arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in Aguleri. The operation, carried out in the early hours of September 24, 2025, followed credible intelligence provided to the Command.
The suspects, all males between the ages of 22 and 40, were identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam, and Onyebuchi Udemba. During the operation, the Police recovered a pump-action gun and a black Toyota Camry car bearing registration number SMK 835 FC.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, FWC, MNIPS, Ph.D., reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no hiding place in Anambra State. He also called on members of the public to continue providing timely information to the Police to assist in the fight against crime.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, and the case will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, emphasized that the arrest underscores the Command’s proactive approach in tackling violent crimes and maintaining law and order across the state.
