As the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections gains momentum, leading aspirant Mr. Rijo Shekari received royal blessings from the paramount ruler of Kajju land, HRH Agwam Luka Kogi Yabuwat, and his council of kingmakers on Wednesday. The ceremony, held at the Agwam Bajju palace in Zonkwa, drew a large gathering of traditional council members, party loyalists, community leaders, and well-wishers who came out to show solidarity with the aspirant.
During the event, the Agwam Bajju described Shekari as a worthy son of the land, commending his selfless contributions to widows, orphans, and the less privileged. He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the aspirant and urged him to remain steadfast in promoting peace and uplifting the needy across the constituency. The Agwam further noted that Shekari’s humility, integrity, and demonstrated commitment to the welfare of his people make him a credible and trustworthy candidate.
Also speaking, the Marafan Bajju, Mr. Christopher Yanshi, highlighted Shekari’s courage in stepping forward to serve the people, describing his leadership qualities as exemplary. Other dignitaries present lauded Shekari’s vision, compassion, and dedication, emphasizing that his aspiration is timely and deserving of widespread support from all sectors of the constituency.
In response, Shekari expressed profound gratitude to the Agwam Bajju and his council for the honor and fatherly guidance. He pledged not to betray the trust reposed in him, promising to deliver inclusive and effective representation that reflects the aspirations of the people of Zangon Kataf/Jaba. He emphasized that his decision to contest stems from a genuine desire to serve and complement the developmental efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level and Governor Uba Sani at the state level.
Shekari outlined his focus areas if elected, including youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, and increased opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. He reassured constituents that his administration would prioritize sustainable development, equity, and participatory governance to ensure that every segment of the constituency benefits from his representation.
The event concluded with prayers and traditional blessings from kingmakers representing the five clans of Kajju, reinforcing the aspirant’s broad grassroots support. Observers noted that the endorsement by the Agwam Bajju, one of the most influential traditional institutions in southern Kaduna, signals strong backing for Shekari’s candidacy and may influence community consensus ahead of the APC primaries.
The ceremony underscored the importance of collaboration between political aspirants and traditional institutions in fostering unity, promoting social welfare, and ensuring that leadership reflects the values, aspirations, and developmental goals of the people. Through this royal blessing, Shekari’s campaign gains symbolic legitimacy and a renewed mandate to serve with integrity, vision, and commitment.
