In a renewed push to enhance inter-agency cooperation within the Lagos State Public Service, the Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fostering closer collaboration with the Civil Service Commission. The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Chairman and Members of the Civil Service Commission to the Ministry, aimed at deepening dialogue and aligning strategies for human resource development.

Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Ayantayo noted that both the Ministry and the Commission share a common mandate in managing and developing the state’s civil service workforce. He emphasized that sustained cooperation and effective communication between the two agencies are crucial for building a skilled, efficient, and professional civil service. “As key stakeholders in the professional development of civil servants in Lagos State, it is vital that we maintain a close working relationship,” he stated.

Highlighting the Ministry’s ongoing efforts, the Commissioner assured the Civil Service Commission that its members would be actively considered for participation in upcoming capacity-building programmes. He explained that these initiatives, designed to improve leadership, technical, and administrative skills, form part of a broader commitment to inclusive development across the public service. Mr. Ayantayo emphasized that the goal is to equip civil servants with the tools to deliver high-quality services to Lagos residents efficiently and effectively.

In her remarks, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, lauded the Ministry for its pivotal role in building a professional workforce. She underscored the importance of unity among all agencies involved in human resource management, stating, “As agencies tasked with overseeing human capital development in the public sector, it is only logical that the Ministry of Establishments and Training, the Civil Service Commission, and the Public Service Office operate in unity.” She expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the commitment to continuous partnership.

The visit also provided a platform to review past collaborations, including training programmes, leadership workshops, and policy alignment initiatives, which have collectively strengthened the capacity and efficiency of civil servants across the state. Both parties agreed that sustained engagement, shared expertise, and joint planning are essential to maintain a responsive, innovative, and citizen-focused public service.

Concluding the visit, Mr. Ayantayo and Mrs. Dapo-Thomas reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation, reiterating the need for structured collaborations that enhance service delivery, boost staff morale, and ensure that Lagos State continues to set the benchmark for excellence in public administration.
