The Borno State Police Command has officially commenced full enforcement of tinted glass permits and other vehicular regulations across the state following the expiration of the grace period on 2nd October 2025. The directive, issued in line with the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police, is being executed under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, PSC.
The ongoing enforcement exercise is taking place on all major roads and highways in the state. Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Motor Traffic Divisions have been tasked with intensifying operations against traffic violations, particularly focusing on unauthorized use of tinted glass, covering number plates with cloth or stickers, illegal use of sirens, reckless driving, and driving against traffic on one-way streets.
CP Abdulmajid highlighted that these traffic offences not only breach existing laws but also facilitate criminal activities, making it imperative for strict enforcement. He warned that offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted, reinforcing the Command’s resolve to ensure compliance with vehicular regulations and safeguard public safety.
Members of the public who have not yet obtained tinted glass permits are urged to apply through the Police Online Central Motor Registry Portal at www.possap.gov.ng. The Commissioner appealed to all residents to cooperate with law enforcement officers, adhere strictly to traffic rules, and actively support ongoing initiatives aimed at maintaining law, order, and security across Borno State.
Emergency contacts have been provided for residents to report incidents or seek assistance, with ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, ANIPR, listing 08068075581 and 08023433293 as active lines for the public.
The enforcement exercise is part of a broader initiative by the Borno State Police to enhance road safety, curb traffic-related offences, and ensure that all vehicles comply with legal standards. Beyond enforcement, the campaign also serves to educate drivers on the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, the dangers of reckless driving, and the role of lawful vehicular conduct in preventing crime.
Through this initiative, the Borno State Police Command aims to foster a safer, more responsible driving culture, ultimately improving public security and reducing accidents. The Command reassures residents that these measures are in their best interest, aiming to protect lives and property while ensuring a smooth and lawful traffic environment.
