In a bid to support education and enhance access to tertiary learning for indigenes, the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, officially flagged-off the disbursement of bursary allowances for the 2023/2024 academic session. The event took place at the College of Education in Akwanga Local Government Area, bringing together students, educational stakeholders, and government officials.
Governor Sule described the bursary scheme as part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to investing in human capital, stressing that education remains a critical driver of socio-economic development. He reiterated that supporting students financially ensures that indigenes can pursue higher education without undue financial burdens, ultimately contributing to the growth and prosperity of Nasarawa State.
According to the Governor, the bursary programme targets indigenous students enrolled in various tertiary institutions across the country, with allocations designed to complement the students’ academic needs. By providing timely financial support, the state government seeks to reduce dropout rates, encourage academic excellence, and foster a culture of self-reliance and determination among the youth.
