The Kano State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, arresting notorious armed robbery suspects and recovering illicit drugs and liquid intoxicants across the State.
In a successful operation, operatives apprehended Nura Sani, 20, from Zango Town, Bauchi State, and Ibrahim Lawan, 35, from Katsina State. The suspects were involved in a daring armed robbery on 14th September 2025 at Tokarawa Quarters, where they stormed a residence, wielding dangerous weapons, and stole a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at N26,500,000, alongside phones and other valuables.
In a related crackdown, security officers recovered 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules in Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, with an estimated value of N40,500,000.
Furthermore, on 30th September 2025 at around 11:15 a.m., a surveillance team intercepted Alhaji Isyaku Babayo of K/Mazugal and Mohd Ahmed of Dorayi Babba at the Trailer Park in Dangauro. They were found with seven bags of suspected liquid intoxicants, locally known as “Akuskura,” totaling 2,450 bottles, valued at N2,450,000.
Demonstrating effective inter-agency collaboration, the Kano State Police Command handed over the recovered cases—including the suspects and over N120,000,000 worth of suspected Tramadol, Pregabalin, and Cannabis Sativa—to the NDLEA Kano Command for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP I.A. Bakori, PhD, commended the officers for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication. He assured that efforts are ongoing to trace additional suspects at large and recover all stolen items.
CP Bakori further expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and cooperation of the public, urging residents to continue partnering with the police in their collective mission to enhance safety. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives, curbing criminal activities, and fostering a secure environment for all citizens.
This string of operations underscores the Kano State Police Command’s proactive approach to tackling organized crime and drug trafficking, reinforcing its mandate to maintain law and order across the State.
