Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has visited Oke Ode and adjoining communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area to commiserate with residents following recent attacks by suspected kidnappers.
The Governor, accompanied by security officials and government aides, expressed deep concern over the incidents and assured the people that both the state government and security agencies are intensifying efforts to restore lasting peace and stability to the area.
“We understand the pain and fear these unfortunate attacks have caused. Our government, alongside security forces, is working tirelessly to ensure that calm is restored and that communities can once again live without fear,” AbdulRazaq said during the visit.
The Governor’s presence in Oke Ode was received as a strong gesture of solidarity, with community leaders and residents appreciating his prompt response and engagement. He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to strengthen security architecture across the state, noting that safety of lives and property remains a top priority.
The attacks in Oke Ode and surrounding villages have heightened concerns about insecurity in parts of Kwara State, with reports of abductions disrupting normal social and economic life. Governor AbdulRazaq assured residents that practical steps, including closer intelligence gathering, increased patrols, and better collaboration between local communities and security forces, are being put in place to tackle the menace.
He also appealed for patience and unity among residents, urging them to remain vigilant and to work closely with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that could help curb criminal activities.
Community representatives who spoke during the visit commended the Governor for showing leadership at a critical moment, stressing that the people’s morale has been boosted by his assurances and by the presence of additional security operatives.
With renewed collaboration between the government, security forces, and local stakeholders, the Kwara State Government expressed optimism that peace will soon return to Oke Ode and other affected communities.
