Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the historic Ahmadu Bello Stadium into a world-class sports facility that meets international FIFA standards.
The Governor made the pledge during an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction and remodeling of the stadium, originally built in 1965. The project marks the first major facelift of the iconic venue in over six decades and is expected to be completed within ten months. Governor Sani emphasized that the upgraded stadium will not only restore its prominence but also position Kaduna as a hub for sports tourism in Nigeria.
“This project will restore the stadium’s relevance and provide a modern facility for athletes, sports fans, and visitors. It reflects our administration’s determination to advance sports development and enhance the cultural and recreational life of our people,” the Governor said.
In addition to the stadium, Governor Sani inspected the Keke–Danbushiya asphalt road project in Millennium City, a strategic initiative aimed at improving urban mobility. He highlighted that the road project will ease traffic congestion, enhance accessibility, and create new economic opportunities in one of Kaduna’s fastest-growing areas.
“These projects reflect our administration’s focus on infrastructure, sports, and overall quality of life for residents,” Governor Sani stated, noting that continued progress on such initiatives would deliver tangible benefits for Kaduna citizens.
Government officials present at the inspection assured that the steady implementation of these projects is aligned with the administration’s broader development agenda, which prioritizes modern infrastructure, enhanced public services, and community-driven growth. Residents are expected to enjoy improved road networks, recreational facilities, and economic opportunities once the projects reach completion.
The Ahmadu Bello Stadium renovation and the Keke–Danbushiya road project underscore Governor Sani’s vision for a progressive Kaduna State, integrating sports, transport, and urban planning to meet the demands of the 21st century while boosting the state’s economic and social profile.
