The Managing Director of Edo State Development and Property Cooperation (ESDPC), Barr. Folarin Okungbowa, has urged all staff members to take advantage of the health services provided by the Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDOHIC).
Barr. Okungbowa gave the encouragement during a sensitization visit by EDOHIC officials, led by Mr. Daniel Azeke, to the Cooperation’s offices. He commended the Edo State Government for its initiative to provide affordable healthcare to citizens and emphasized the importance of staff enrolling promptly to benefit from the various health packages offered by the Commission.
“The Edo State Government has created a laudable framework to ensure accessible healthcare for its citizens. I encourage all staff who have not yet enrolled to do so without delay so they can take full advantage of the health packages available,” Barr. Okungbowa stated.
Mr. Daniel Azeke explained that the visit is part of a broader sensitization tour of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Edo State, aimed at educating current and prospective enrollees on the procedures, benefits, and opportunities provided by EDOHIC. He highlighted that the health packages are not limited to civil servants but are also available to persons in the informal sector, provided they complete the enrollment process and pay the prescribed fees.
Head of Marketing at ESDPC, Mr. Henry Omo-Aneni, commended EDOHIC for the initiative while noting certain gaps in the services provided by EDOHIC vendors, urging improvements for better delivery.
The visit also provided an interactive platform for staff to raise questions, express concerns, and clarify ambiguities regarding the enrollment process and healthcare benefits. This engagement allowed EDOHIC representatives to provide detailed guidance and address staff queries, ensuring better understanding and participation.
The visit reinforces Edo State Government’s commitment to strengthening access to affordable and quality healthcare for public servants and residents, while promoting awareness and uptake of the state’s health insurance schemes.
