The Southern Kaduna Renaissance Front (SKRF) has expressed strong support for the ongoing defection of legislators from Southern Kaduna to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as “strategic” and reflective of the zone’s aspirations.
The group commended the defection of Minority Leader Hon. Ali Kalat and three other lawmakers, officially announced by the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. They also highlighted the endorsement of Governor Uba Sani by Hon. Daniel Amos of Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, alongside several PDP colleagues, as indicative of a broader shift toward the APC.
According to SKRF, the development aligns with the resolutions of its Young Persons Political Conference, held on September 17, 2025, themed “Charting a Path to 2027: Alignment or Opposition to the Centre?” The group emphasized that the momentum reflects the collective will of Southern Kaduna people for greater political inclusion and development.
In a statement jointly signed by Convener Comrade Sabastine Bahori Luka and Publicity Secretary Comrade Beevan Magoni, the SKRF called on Senator Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung and other PDP legislators in the zone to “heed the voice of their constituents” and join the ruling party.
“Senator Katung’s achievements in just over two years have been made possible largely through collaboration with the APC-led government,” the statement noted. “To sustain this progress and secure re-election, it is imperative he aligns fully with the party and works closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.”
The group framed the 2027 elections as a referendum, contrasting what it described as the “remarkable progress” under the current APC administration with the stagnation of previous governments. SKRF reiterated its commitment to collaborating with political stakeholders to ensure Southern Kaduna’s interests remain a priority as the country heads toward the 2027 polls.
