The Delta State Government, through the Office of the First Lady, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, in collaboration with the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA), has disbursed ₦150,000 business grants each to 320 women under the MORE Cap-Up Programme. The event took place today at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

The initiative aims to empower women—especially those in rural communities—by providing them with both financial support and business management training to start, sustain, and expand their small-scale enterprises.

Speaking during the ceremony, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth through women’s empowerment. She noted that women are key drivers of community development and that equipping them with financial tools and entrepreneurial skills will yield long-term socio-economic benefits.

The grants, facilitated through DEMSMEDA, form part of the MORE Cap-Up Programme, a broader initiative under the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aimed at creating sustainable opportunities for self-reliance, productivity, and poverty reduction across Delta State.

By targeting grassroots entrepreneurs, the programme seeks to bridge income gaps, strengthen household economies, and stimulate local commerce—further reinforcing the state’s vision of a prosperous and inclusive Delta.

With this latest intervention, the Delta State Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering women and promoting entrepreneurship as a vital component of its development strategy.
