In a significant step toward empowering young girls, Abuja-based legal practitioner Barr. Crawford E. Toinpre officially launched her non-profit organization, the CTE Foundation, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, ahead of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child. During the launch, she awarded scholarships and covered WAEC registration fees for a number of students, while also distributing empowerment packs to attendees from New Total Child Academy and St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Yenagoa. In addition, Barr. Crawford made a financial contribution toward repairing a water borehole at St. Jude’s School, reflecting her commitment to improving educational infrastructure.
Explaining the motivation behind establishing the foundation, Barr. Crawford emphasized her passion for giving back to society through initiatives in education, rural development, and health. She highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by girls, including limited access to quality education, menstrual hygiene management, and mentorship opportunities. The CTE Foundation, she noted, aims to bridge these gaps by creating awareness, providing resources, and fostering an environment that enables girls to succeed.
In her address, Barr. Crawford also urged young girls to prioritize education and personal growth, cautioning against succumbing to societal pressures that may lead to exploiting their bodies for material gain. Other speakers at the event reinforced this message, motivating over two hundred female students to remain focused, aim high, and avoid vices, underscoring the importance of perseverance and personal development.
