The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Goli Mohammed, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resilience and commitment since assuming office, stating that he has never complained about the challenges inherited from his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In her remarks, Mohammed emphasized that while people around the president often discuss the difficulties left behind, Tinubu himself has remained focused on fulfilling his duties. “I have not heard him complain. People around him complain about what he inherited, but he doesn’t,” she said.
She also highlighted Tinubu’s determination and sense of responsibility in attaining the presidency. “He fought hard to get to that seat, even though he said it was his turn. So far, Tinubu is the president of Nigeria, and it was God that put him there,” Mohammed noted.
Mohammed further called on Nigerians to support the president in his efforts to advance the nation. “It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to get behind him and do the best we can for Nigeria. Except you’re trying to tell me that God made a mistake,” she added.
Addressing the nation’s collective attitude, the UN Deputy Secretary-General urged Nigerians to avoid a “pull-down syndrome,” stressing that the country’s citizens are hardworking, ambitious, and proud. “If we get into the pull-down syndrome, then who else is going to pull us up? Nigerians are the hardest working, most ambitious, and proud people,” she stated.
