In a decisive operation to curb criminal activities in Anambra State, police officers from Nnobi Division, under the Ogidi Area Command, teamed up with the Awka-Etiti Vigilante Group to apprehend a notorious motorcycle thief and his accomplices. The operation, carried out in the early hours of October 13, 2025, led to the arrest of Chiemerie Okeke, identified as a key suspect in a series of motorcycle robberies, along with two individuals believed to have received stolen motorcycles in Iruowelle Village, Awka-Etiti.

The arrests followed a report filed by a victim on October 11, who recounted that he and his wife were forcefully robbed of their black Kata Pen motorcycle by two assailants while returning home. Acting on the complaint, the police conducted thorough intelligence-led surveillance and tracking, culminating in the recovery of four Kymco 125 motorcycles suspected to have been stolen.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised the collaborative efforts of the operatives and the vigilante group, highlighting the importance of community support in tackling crime. He called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the police to enhance public safety and strengthen law enforcement across the state.
