The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed her commitment to the welfare and education of young girls during a One-Day Public Sensitization Program organized by the Sharia Commission in collaboration with her Al-Muhibbah Foundation. The event, themed “Empowering the Girl-Child, Protecting Her Future,” focused on curbing street hawking and promoting the rights and safety of girls across the state.

In her address, Dr. Bala Mohammed stressed that every girl deserves access to education, a safe environment, and opportunities for empowerment. She called on parents, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to collaborate in ending street hawking, emphasizing that such practices expose girls to risks and limit their potential for a brighter future.

The program attracted a wide array of participants, including Islamic scholars, security personnel from the Police and Civil Defence, representatives from UNFPA and Agile, community and religious leaders, market heads, district officials, youth groups, and committees focused on gender-based violence. Attendees lauded the initiative and pledged their support toward safeguarding the rights of girls and ensuring their holistic development.

The event highlighted the critical role of community engagement and coordinated efforts in protecting the girl-child, fostering an environment where she can grow safely and reach her full potential.
