Over one thousand prominent women from across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State have defected from various political parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the exceptional leadership and developmental strides of Governor Uba Sani as their primary motivation.

The women were officially received into the party by the Kaduna State Woman Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman (popularly known as Mai Ginau), during a brief but colourful ceremony held at the APC state secretariat in Kaduna.

The defectors, drawn from diverse political and professional backgrounds, said their decision was inspired by the visible progress recorded under Governor Sani’s administration in less than three years in office.

Addressing the gathering, Hajiya Suleiman described the mass defection as “clear evidence of the growing popularity of the APC” under Governor Sani’s inclusive and people-centred leadership.

She commended the governor for his focus on women’s empowerment, grassroots development, and citizen welfare, noting that such policies have endeared him to the people.

“Governor Uba Sani has shown uncommon commitment to the welfare of women and youths across Kaduna State. His administration promotes inclusiveness, and that is why I say to you all — welcome home, because the APC is your home,” she said to loud applause.

Hajiya Suleiman congratulated the new members for what she called a “bold and wise decision” to align with the APC’s progressive vision, assuring them of equal opportunities and fair treatment within the party.

She added that the APC under Governor Sani will continue to provide platforms for women’s active participation in governance, ensuring their voices shape the state’s future.

Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, hailed the women’s decision as a strong vote of confidence in Governor Sani’s leadership and the APC’s policies.

She noted that the governor’s impressive record in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development has placed Kaduna on a path of sustainable growth.

“What this administration has achieved in less than three years is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what is coming,” Hon. Tanimu said, urging the new members to remain loyal and supportive of the party’s programmes.

Several of the defectors who spoke at the event praised both Governor Uba Sani and Hajiya Suleiman for their visionary and inclusive leadership, describing them as figures who have restored faith in participatory governance.

They pledged their full support to the APC and vowed to mobilise more women across the state to join hands with Governor Uba Sani in advancing Kaduna’s development.
