The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed the dysfunctional Sewage/Wastewater Treatment Facility at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) for illegally discharging raw sewage, posing a public nuisance, environmental pollution, and health risks to residents.

The action followed multiple warnings to the institution to cease the deplorable discharge of untreated sewage, which threatened public health and contaminated the environment.

Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, General Manager of LSWMO, emphasized that the State maintains zero tolerance for environmental pollution. He called on residents and institutions to adopt proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to protect public health and sustain the environment.

“The agency remains committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment in Lagos State for the benefit of all residents. Every act of environmental nuisance and pollution endangers public health and will attract appropriate sanctions and prosecution,” Engr. Afolabi stated.

He urged citizens to report any environmental violations to the agency through the official lines: 08022022397, 07025332163, or via social media handles: Instagram and Twitter: @lswmomedia, and Facebook: Lagos State Wastewater Management Office.

LSWMO’s decisive action underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and the environment, sending a strong message against pollution and neglect of sanitation standards.
