The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has addressed a recent incident in the Admiralty area of Lekki Phase 1, where an individual was apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC/KAI) for conducting unauthorized activities on a public road median.

The individual claimed to be performing charitable cooking activities, which unfortunately violated existing environmental and sanitation regulations.

While the Lagos State Government appreciates the spirit of philanthropy and community support, such initiatives must comply with state laws to ensure public safety, environmental protection, and urban order.

The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reiterated its commitment to a clean, sustainable, and livable Lagos. Unauthorized use of public spaces, including road medians, poses risks such as infrastructure damage, health hazards, and traffic disruption. The arrest and removal of equipment were part of ongoing campaigns, #KeepLagosClean and #ZeroToleranceLagos, aimed at preserving the city's aesthetic and functional integrity.

Residents are encouraged to use designated spaces or obtain approvals for charitable and community activities, ensuring goodwill efforts do not compromise public safety or city standards.

The Ministry also urged individuals and organizations involved in community service initiatives to collaborate with relevant agencies for guidance on compliant practices, reinforcing safe, responsible, and impactful charitable activities.
